In Memoriam: People And Brands Who Left Us In 2020

The Latin phrase “in memoriam” is often used in place of “in memory of.” And to my mind, people also use it to signify departed who may be gone but shouldn’t be forgotten. Every year people working in the watch industry pass away, and brands come and go. Elizabeth Doerr highlights a special few of those we lost in 2020.

RIP RJ Romain Jérôme: First Horological Casualty Of The Coronavirus Fallout?

RJ Watches – formerly known as Romain Jérôme – has declared bankruptcy with immediate effect. Elizabeth Doerr takes a brief look at the 16-year run of this quirky boutique brand, its design-focused existence having formed an interesting tribute to the power (and limits) of marketing.

Permanent Art Gets Inside You: Romain Jerome Tattoo-DNA By Xoil

People are always finding new outlets to express creativity because that is what humans do . . . right down to tattoo artists seeking new ways to create, leading to unusual collaborations. This is exactly the kind of thing that led to the creation of a watch featuring unique, hand-tattooed straps and a rather incredible juxtaposition of classic and modern watchmaking. I give you the Romain Jerome Tattoo-DNA by Xoil.

Heartbeat: Batman-DNA Gotham City Is Romain Jerome’s Glowing Tribute To ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’

Romain Jerome and Warner Brothers’ DC Entertainment have joined forces once again to pay tribute to the comic world’s Dark Knight, just in time for the release of ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ hitting theaters this weekend. Like something out of Batman’s own arsenal, the black 46 mm PVD-coated stainless steel case includes an asymmetrically faceted bezel finished with alternating rough-brushed and polished surfaces. And don’t forget the lume! Cape not included, though.

‘Batman v Superman’: DC Comic Hero Immortalized By Jaeger-LeCoultre, Romain Jerome, And Montegrappa Timepieces

The long-awaited recent release of the ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ trailer delights me to no end (it is also nice to see that Ben Affleck might actually turn out be a decent Batman; the few seconds of him in the trailer were shockingly good in my opinion). Without further ado, I’d like to call to memory a few timepieces that have commemorated Batman in recent history by Jaeger-LeCoultre, Romain Jerome, and Montegrappa.

Lighting Up With Lume At Baselworld 2015. Warning: Sunglasses Advised!

The bright spotlights of Baselworld 2015 lit up a plethora of eye-catching watches of every shape, color, and complication. Here are a few of the best lume-outfitted watches from Baselworld 2015 from Patek Philippe, Romain Jerome, Chopard, Valbray, Bell & Ross, Bulgari, and Glashütte Original.
