A Xenomorph From Continuing Evolution: MCT Frequential One F110

The MCT Frequential One F110 shares DNA and some familiar form with its neighboring population of the Sequential One and Sequential Two, but it is an end population that is truly itself. It’s something new.

New mechanics with familiar form

Mechanically speaking, the Frequential One F110 is a very new watch. Stylistically speaking, it is clearly a co-evolved result of what has come before. Gone are the rotating prisms, the large minute hand indicating the jump hour, and the three-quarter ring that jumps to uncover the current hour. But what replaces them?

You Are There: A Day With McLaren And The 570S Supercar

My highly anticipated McLaren experience started one Thursday morning in late June . . . and ended on a sunny afternoon in mid-October, when as soon as I climbed into the contoured green Alcantara stitched seat, pulled down the Mantis-green door, and adjusted the seat and mirrors, I set off down the A22 toward Portimao and the Algarve Race Circuit. The noise of the 3.8-liter V8 would be my soundtrack for this journey.

In The Face Of Complexity, Simplicity Rules: The Konstantin Chaykin Genius Temporis

In the early 1960s, engineer Kelly Johnson of Lockheed Martin came up with ā€œkeep it simple, stupidā€, which became better known by its acronym, KISS. Watches that employ clever levers and clearly adhere to the KISS principle are always something that can turn me into a giddy fan boy, and one such piece is the Konstantin Chaykin Genius Temporis. Heck, even the name implies some genius.

F.P. Journe Displays Extensive Library Of Jean-Claude Sabrier At Geneva Atelier

If youā€™ve never been to visit FranƧois-Paul Journeā€™s atelier in the heart of Geneva, now would be a very good time to visit it. Aside from the astounding watches you will likely encounter on display, there are a great number of other interesting objects a fan of good watchmaking shouldnā€™t miss. Including the nearly one thousand books, historical manuscripts, letters, and catalogs once belonging to the extensive horological library of departed historical expert Jean-Claude Sabrier.

Ancient Drums Are Booming: Speake-Marin Dong Son Tourbillon

Peter Speake-Marin’s eponymous brandā€™s creation, the Dong Son Tourbillon, finds its inspiration in an ancient style of bronze drums found in the Red River Delta region of Vietnam. This gorgeous tourbillon with its finely etched dial interspersed with blue lacquer is an amazingly beautiful unique piece addition to it. And, naturally, Speake-Marin drew from the most notable examples of ĐƓng SĘ”n drums for the layout of this extraordinary dial.

5 Of The Most Innovative Wristwatches Ever Made

Now, please donā€™t take this title the wrong way: this list is not definitive. Which is why it is not entitled ā€œThe 5 Most Innovative Wristwatches Ever Made.” It is specifically entitled ā€œ5 Of The Most Innovative Wristwatches Ever Madeā€ because there are certainly more of them out there (this list could have encompassed 15, or even 20!) and there are surely differing opinions. For me, these five timepieces largely encompass comprehensive parts of what is great about the modern world of wristwatches.

Behind The Lens: The Philippe Dufour Simplicity

As regular readers know, the idea of the Behind the Lens series is to present great watches as seen from a variety of visual perspectives. Mostly, I feature watches on loan from my generous friends, but this time letā€™s look at a piece that I am very fortunate to have in my own collection: the legendary Simplicity by Philippe Dufour in a 37 mm white gold case with white lacquer dial.
