Former Chelsea FC player Frank Lampard, now the manager of Derby County FC, faced his former team in the English League Carabao Cup in October 2018. Chelsea came out victorious on this occasion, winning 3-2.
We previously highlighted two of Lampard’s Patek Philippes in Wrist Watching: FC Derby Manager Frank Lampard Wearing Two Different Patek Philippe Wristwatches. The football legend seems to have a real penchant for the prestigious Genevan brand.
During the match against Chelsea, Lampard sported a recently-launched Patek Philippe: Reference 5968A-001, the first Aquanaut model featuring a chronograph function.
The orange-accented chronograph hand was visible along with the pushers, allowing me to positively identify this watch. Lampard chose to wear it on the black rubber strap, which is the subtler option compared to the bright orange strap that is also included with the 5968A-001.
Reference 5968A-001 is powered by the same chronograph movement as its older sibling, the 5980 Nautilus chronograph. While Patek Philippe decided to omit the 12-hour counter on this new model, the 60-minute counter and flyback function are retained along with the instantaneous date.

The price that you have mentioned, I have failed to find it anywhere. Can you please share me the basis of the price and where can I find this price. Thanks in advance. Cheers.
Wow $43,770 for this watch back in 2018.. I wish I could afford it back then. The cheapest price that I’ve found so far is $133k and that is still pretty high ngl.. Could you please advise? Or if there’s a better price anywhere?
