Jérôme Lambert, CEO of Montblanc since late 2013, calls this move a “milestone for watchmaking at Montblanc.”
As seen over the last 24 months, Montblanc has certainly reached a new level in watchmaking in terms of its product portfolio, high complications, in-house movements, and artisanal craftsmanship.
And with all of those positive changes, of course came a better distribution network.
Now the clever Lambert takes these positive developments at Montblanc by the horns to create the Montblanc Watch Division, which has been set up as a separate business unit.
And heading that unit as of December 1, 2015 is Davide Cerrato, the man who chiefly steered Tudor to its current renaissance as its vice-president of marketing, design, and product development.
Cerrato joins Montblanc as its new managing director “watch division” and will be based at the Montblanc Manufacture in Le Locle, Switzerland.
Cerrato began his professional career in various marketing functions at Ferrero and Thomson and then worked for an Italian advertising agency. In 2004, he entered the watch industry as global director of communications for Officine Panerai.
It will be interesting to see what changes he makes at Montblanc, where there is a lot of room for professional design expression. I, for one, am very curious.
