Jason Statham is an English action actor best known for his roles as Lee Christmas in The Expendables film series, Deckard Shaw in The Fast and the Furious franchise, and Frank Martin in the three Transporter films.
Statham, a watch aficionado, is known to wear his own watches in films such as The Transporter and most recently Mechanic: Resurrection.
Statham is starring in an upcoming film called The Meg, which is about a species of prehistoric shark called the megalodon, thought to be extinct. Since the film is based around the ocean, a diver’s watch for the character is rather appropriate.
In The Meg, Statham wears an IWC Aquatimer Chronograph Edition called La Cumbre Volcano.
This limited edition of 500 pieces commemorates the La Cumbre volcano on the island of Fernandina in the Galápagos Islands. Statham appears to have swapped out its original strap for an accordion-style IWC rubber strap found on some other Aquatimers.
The 44 mm stainless case of the flyback chronograph is coated in rubber and features an internal rotating bezel that is moved using the external bezel. It can only be turned counterclockwise as a safety feature to prevent accidentally adjusting dive time in a potentially lethal direction.
In tribute to the volcano, the inner rotating bezel, second hand, and minute hand of the chronograph feature fiery red accents.
