Given that the last 20 years were perhaps among the most interesting in horological history, GMT Publishing decided to undertake an ambitious project, The Millennium Watch Book. It’s likely to be interesting for both watch enthusiasts and newbies: a large-format 300-page book written by a diverse collection of 25 authors and watch industry figures who have been around the scene for, oh, a while (including yours truly) and illustrated by more than 1,000 photos.
The Millennium Watch Book is a coffee-table publication looking back over the watch industry’s triumphs between 2000 and 2020.
A few sensational things took place during this modern era of watchmaking and many are recalled here, exploring themes such as chronographs, the independents, the boom in women’s watches, the use of silicon in modern timepieces, and even the recent explosion of the pre-owned watch market.
People who love statistics will likely appreciate the catalog-like listing of all of the laureates of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève since its foundation in 2001.
And a Who’s Who-like section provides profiles of 80 important industry figures active during these two decades, including many brand CEOs.
A special bonus is that the cover was designed by one of the watch industry’s most important and prolific modern designers: Eric Giroud.
This book is not for the dyed-in-the-wool WIS looking for deep technical detail, but it serves as a highly visual piece of collective memory for the last 20 years of watch history. The intent of its 20 chapters was to collect and celebrate the details and people comprising the positive evolution of the watch industry’s last two decades.
The Millennium Watch Book will be published in November 2020 and is available in French or English. It is normally sold at the retail price of CHF 260, but right now Quill & Pad readers can pre-order it at 60 percent off that price (valid until September 30, 2020).

I love to read anything about Horology and I be glad to start my own collection of books. It will take more then a life time to read them all.
Is it correct that shipping costs 49CHF to the US?
