Quill & Pad focuses on high-end watchmaking − also known as haute horlogerie − where we feel the most interesting developments are taking place. This doesn’t mean we will ignore interesting developments taking place in the lower-priced segments, it just means that we will generally be discussing the compelling and the artistic rather than the everyday, for the simple reason that that’s what interests us the most.
If you are curious about the name Quill & Pad, it came about as we started with the premise of offering old-school journalism published on a modern digital platform. “Quill” sounded like a good candidate to represent traditional writing, and we toyed with “iPad” to epitomize the modern, but “Quill and iPad” just didn’t work for us. So it became “Quill and Pad.”
