The grass courts of Wimbledon are holy grounds for all tennis players and it is here that Roger Federer, often called the game’s greatest player, has excelled.
However, although the 33-year-old Swiss is a seven-time Wimbledon champion, he hasn’t reached a Grand Slam final since last winning at Wimbledon in 2012.
On Sunday the 6th of July 2014, Federer took on Novak Djokovic (a Seiko ambassador, incidentally) in an ultimately unsuccessful fight for his eighth Wimbledon title
Federer is a long-time Rolex ambassador, and as such naturally owns a few Rolex models, both new and vintage.
In the video below, Federer is interviewed by former world number one, Indian tennis player Vijay Amritraj (also associated with Rolex).
Federer explains the significance of three Rolex watches from his collection that are very special to him.

Rolex no longer has the prestige associated with it, it used to have in the 70s and 80s.
Its now a mass produced luxury. They currently produce 2 million watches a year.
The watches are no longer handmade, they have huge robotic assembly line.
Roger is being paid to wear Rolex, he would say anything to sell tham.
I am sure he has a secret stash of Pateks, AP or A. Lange Shone, which would appear,
as soon as his contract ends with Rolex.

As you could read in the official COSC annual reports, Rolex never did produce 1 million watches a year. Included a relatively small number of Cellinis without certification some years ago. Why not collect other nice watches?
