Inside Scoop! We Reveal What Big Brands Including Rolex, Omega, IWC And Cartier Don’t Want You To Know About Servicing. You Will Literally Not Believe This Is True!

by Ian Skellern

When I say unbelievable, I mean what were Rolex, Omega, IWC, and Cartier thinking in not providing secure railings and safety harnesses for these little guys? These workers may be small, but they bruise too.

The word is that disappointed with box office reviews, producers of the Matt Damon film Downsizing have been desperately looking for new revenue streams and the big watch brands leaped at the chance to better right-size their personnel.

The idea for these adorable mini watchmakers came from the team at Jon Vincent Watchmakers in the U.K, who happens to service Omega, Cartier, IWC, and Rolex watches along with other brands. As co-owner Greg Kelly explains, “We, like many if not all specialists in servicing mechanical watches, face a continual struggle explaining to watch owners the intricate and specialist nature of repairing luxury watches, which demand more time and are more expensive — as well as conveying how carefully and assiduously we treat our clients’ watches. We felt the miniature figures showcased how small and meticulously designed watches are, and the skill and resources that go into repairing them.”

Photographer Susan Castillo set up the shoot, putting the mini watchmakers and her camera to work.

Thank you to Greg and Jon Vincent Watchmakers for sharing these images with us here on Quill & Pad and for (hopefully) adding as much joy to your day as they did mine.

Guilty as charged, Josh, though I’d hoped the photo would provide a clue that the post was tongue-in-cheek. I promise something more meaty next time.

I thought the image might balance the title, Jeffrey, but am guilty in writing it as click bait. More serious articles will shortly follow.

Seriously, Steve, one post in hundreds can’t just be used to try and put a smile on some people’s faces? I thought these photos were fun and wanted to share them. I also thought the it so over the top as not to be taken seriously (especially with the associated image), but I plead guilty to a misleading title. Regards, Ian

Ian, Fantastic job. Not click bait when accompanied by a picture of mini watchmakers. Brilliant!

You might receive an un-follow or two on FB or even suffer the slings and arrows of youngsters who can’t be bothered with humor or detail or … dare I say it, mindful or thoughtful title reading. Nope, just click and move, click and move. Too bad for those people.

You are doing a great job. I will now follow you on FB to make up for your recent un-follow.

“Thank you so much Ian for starting my day with a smile.”

To be honest, I didn’t actually write the above comment, Ian did. Because while Ian has no problems with most comments; he discovered that he has little patience with somebody posting under the alias (so brave) of “A load of BS”, which I have to admit is really the definition of a particularly stupid troll.

I was looking for some obscure complot on brands taking over the small repairers to avoid sharing their piece of pie. Not angry, just annoyed, after all you’ve been really critic with how the watch periodism works, clickbaits are not a good praxis. Bit of course I get you didn’t plan it that way. The article is cool, but the turtle is way too mysterious and to cool to be taken seriously.

    Regards, Nexgengentry
