Baselworld 2018 began for the Quill & Pad team on Wednesday, March 21, and from our very first meetings it looked obvious that green was back.
The following day further confirmed that view as we saw one fantastic green-themed watch after another. Remarking on the apparent predominance of green this year over the perennial blue to one brand representative, the reply was, “Green is the new blue.”
But two days do not a Baselworld make, and green largely faded from view as we continued with the fair and became inundated with blues of all hues.
Here are a few of my favorite blue and green watches from the fair to see how they compare side by side.

Greubel Forsey Quadruple Tourbillon in red gold with blue dial

Jaquet Droz Parrot Repeater unique piece

Zenith Defy 21 with blue dial

The all-new Corum Romulus in green

De Bethune DB28 Tourbillon Blue all over

H. Moser & Cie Endeavour Cosmic Green

Patek Philippe Nautilus Perpetual Calendar Reference 5740 with “anniversary blue” dial

H. Moser & Cie Swiss Alp Watch Minute Repeater Tourbillon

Glashütte Original Sixties in green

Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute with tiger in plique-a-jour enamel

Rolex Datejust with green malachite dial
So what do you think: is green the new blue, or is it just green?

Porém, no artigo que recomendamos Ian Skellern fala-nos do azul (é certo), mas fala-nos também do verde. Afinal, mais do que o azul, este ano o verde está mesmo a dar nas vistas. Para ler no Quill & Pad. […]
