It’s refreshing to catch a timepiece on the wrist of a celebrity that is not from the “usual suspect” brands like Patek Philippe and Rolex.
Nick Jonas is best known for his band The Jonas Brothers, which he formed with his brothers Frank and Joe. The current solo performer and actor just married Indian actress and singer Priyanka Chopra, Miss World 2000. They wed on December 6, 2018 in a Hindu ceremony at Jodhpur’s Umaid Bhawan Palace.
I spotted Jonas wearing an interesting watch as he exited Mumbai Airport: a Chopard L.U.C Lunar One Grande Date in 18-karat pink gold. And I found a picture of him taken a day later showing the watch very clearly on his wrist as well as his fiancé wearing a delightful frosted gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak (see Give Me 5! Five Fabulous Ladies Watches From SIHH 2017).
The large date is plainly visible in the top half of the dial, while the two subdials below show the moon phase and running seconds. The moon phase of this watch, which only needs to be corrected once every 122 years, displays the phases of the moon for both the northern and southern hemispheres.
Powered by the automatic L.U.C 96.20-L caliber, the Chopard Grande Date Lunar One features a 22-karat gold micro rotor. The movement is also certified as an official chronometer by the C.O.S.C.
I have a feeling this timepiece was a very recent purchase as Jonas was photographed a week prior coming out of the Chopard store in New York with two bags and a strong hunch tells me one of those bags contained his new Lunar One.
One other thing is certain: he also wore this watch to his wedding. For photos of the breathtaking day, check out Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s Instagram account.
