Repeat after me: it’s all about the people! And right now people in Ukraine and refugees in its border areas are displaced – and, even worse, hungry.
Some of my favorite people in the watch community are stepping forward to help, and all of us at Quill & Pad are united in support of their effort: the #WatchFamForUkraine Solidarity Auction is set to take place on auction platform www.loupethis.com from March 25 to March 28, 2022.

#WatchFamForUkraine Solidarity Auction for food relief: Frédérique Constant RedBar Edition
Organizers Kathleen McGivney, CEO of enthusiast group RedBar, and Wei Koh, founder of Revolution and The Rake, have selected World Central Kitchen (www.wck.org), who is currently on the ground at multiple locations providing meals to Ukrainian refugees, to receive the proceeds from the auction.
I’ve known both Kathleen and Wei for a long time, but for my own (and your) comfort I did some online searching about WCK and was both impressed by this organization’s past efforts in crises such as Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and reassured by its top ratings on charity watchdog site www.charitynavigator.org.

This could be yours for charity: Maurice Lacroix RedBar Group Edition
Another long-time friend, mega-collector and vintage Rolex expert Eric Ku, is the force behind LoupeThis, and he has generously offered to host the auction with 100 percent of proceeds going directly to WCK for Ukraine food relief.
Watches already committed to the auction include Kathleen’s personal Maurice Lacroix RedBar edition, Wei’s Baltic/Revolution collaboration watch number one, a Frédérique Constant RedBar timepiece, a vintage Breitling Top Time from Revolution’s collection, a unique Bamford GMT in Ukraine’s blue and yellow colors, a Tutima Sky with the right shade of blue dial donated by Right Time Watches and Tutima, and even a sculpture by @watchpartsmotorcycles among other items.

Gary, what watch are you donating?
I wonder why the donors are selecting some of their lower value pieces!
