Encyclopedia of Konstantin Chaykin’s Wristmons: As Comprehensive a List as Possible and a Photofest of Fun!

Is Konstantin Chaykin’s Joker high watchmaking art? That’s for you to decide, but it’s well worth taking a serious look at the Joker and all of the other of Chaykin’s Wristmons.

Konstantin Chaykin Wristmons

In 2022, Konstantin Chaykin celebrated the 5th anniversary of the Joker watch he invented. The watch, conceived at the end of 2016 and presented to the public in Basel in the spring of 2017, awakened Chaykin’s courage and directed his creative energy in a new direction.

Since then, the Wristmons collection – “wrist monsters” – has expanded each year. These have been not simply Jokers in new colors, but new stories, concepts, designs, calibers, and even unprecedented complications.

Unfortunately, an exhaustive encyclopedia of the Wristmons isn’t possible (not yet anyway). Konstantin Chaykin is bound by agreements with customers of special series and unique pieces, so he cannot share information about every Wristmon.

However, below you will find information about most of the models from Konstantin Chaykin’s Wristmons collection, including those that Chaykin himself considers the most important and worthy of attention.

Konstantin Chaykin

When Konstantin Chaykin began to implement a project with the working title Smile in the fall of 2016 – the idea developed of a watch as an art object evoking a direct emotional response. So he chose a design with a dial in the shape of a face.

According to his idea, the main design elements should be kinematic and change every minute so that the emotional perception is constantly changing and updating.

Joker Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin

A Joker-indication module was designed for the Joker watch with the hour and minute disks in the form of the eyes and a moon phase indicator in the form of a smiling mouth with a red tongue.

The self-winding caliber K.07-0, the original movement of the Wristmons collection, consisted of this module and the Swiss base movement Eta 2824-2 that animated it.

The Joker was Konstantin Chaykin’s first automatic watch, and it launched the popularity of the Wristmons collection.

01. Joker 2017

Konstantin Chaykin presented the Joker watch at Baselworld in March 2017, with a 42mm stainless steel case and a solid caseback engraved with the stylized letter “J”, the emblem of the watch.

Joker by Konstantin Chaykin

The Joker was recognized as one of the most spectacular and remarkable novelties of the fair, and all 99 pieces of the first limited edition sold out in the first few days.

02. Clown 2017

The news that a new film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel It would be released in early September 2017 triggered the release of Konstantin Chaykin’s Clown watch.

The protests of the clown community, which were negative towards the film, only increased public interest in the film event and led Chaykin to develop the Clown design.

Clown by Konstantin Chaykin

Chaykin decided to limit the edition to 27 pieces, since according to the plot of the novel ‘It’, the clown monster Pennywise appears in the city of Derry every 27 years.

The 42 mm steel case of the watch was equipped with a K.07-0 automatic caliber, and a Pennywise balloon surrounded by thorny branches was engraved on the solid steel caseback.

At the 2018 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPGH) Konstantin Chaykin was awarded the Audacity Prize for this watch – Chaykin was the first Russian watchmaker to win at the GPHG.

It should be noted that Chaнkin had entered Joker to the GPHG a year earlier, but it appeared that the GPHG Jury wasn’t yet ready for such a seemingly irreverent and playful watch.

03. Joker Only Watch 2017 Unique Piece

In the fall of 2017, Chaykin participated in the Only Watch 2017 charity auction and provided the organizers with a custom-made Joker Only Watch 2017, a one-of-a-kind piece with a zirconium case, automatic caliber K.07-0, and a solid zirconium caseback engraved with the Only Watch logo.

At the auction on November 11, 2017, the watch was sold for 45,000 francs – with a significant excess over the estimated value. Konstantin Chaykin was the first Russian watchmaker to participate in the Only Watch.

Joker for Only Watch 2017 by Konstantin Chaykin

Since then, Chaykin has participated in all editions of Only Watch, offering more and more extraordinary and complicated watches. This contribution deserves respect because he has invested a lot of time, effort and money in the design and manufacture of unique pieces that weren’t later reproduced in commercial models.

04. Pumpkin Head Special Halloween 2017

Pumpkin Head Special Halloween was also the first Wristmon with a bronze case. The watch is equipped with an automatic caliber K.07-0, the solid steel caseback is engraved with the image of a pumpkin head.

The release of watches for Halloween would become one of the traditions of the Wristmons collection.

05. Joker Titanium 2018

The Joker Titanium was presented by Konstantin Chaykin at Baselworld 2018. After the first limited edition of the steel Joker was sold out, Konstantin Chaykin received requests from collectors who would like to buy the watch. He had to look for ways to satisfy the needs of the new customers and not disappoint the old ones who had bought the first Joker.

Joker Titanium by Konstantin Chaykin

The decision to use titanium as the case material was almost obvious, but Chaykin also changed the design of the dial. It’s decorated with double groove relief guilloché (a similar technique was used by the great Russian jeweler Carl Fabergé), while the nose of the Joker was decorated with a unique guilloché pattern invented by Chaykin for this special watch issued in a limited edition of 88 pieces.

06. Joker tie-strap 2018

When presenting the Joker Titanium watch, Konstantin Chaykin offered an optional collector’s strap with a tie decoration that he invented.

Watchmakers rarely care about the straps, preferring to entrust their manufacture to specialists. Konstantin Chaykin is a rare watchmaker who managed to invent a new strap design.

07. Andersen x Chaykin Automaton Joker 2018

Together with a Joker Titanium, Konstantin Chaykin presented the Joker Automaton watch at Baselworld-2018. It was the first collaboration in the history of his manufacture.

The complication was developed by independent watchmaker Svend Andersen, co-founder of the AHCI Academy of Independent Watchmakers and founder of the Andersen Genève brand.

Andersen x Chaykin Automaton Joker

Chaykin provided Svend Andersen with the Joker-indication modules, which he equipped with a base caliber and a branded animation module with four poker-playing characters on the back of the watch. The animation is started by pressing the button, and its duration is about 2 minutes when fully wound. The watch, with a 42 mm red gold case, was produced in a limited edition of 20 pieces.

10. Dracula Special Halloween 2018

The idea of putting Dracula’s fangs on the Joker’s dial came to Konstantin Chaykin in mid-2017, when he was considering various watch designs for the Only Watch 2017 charity auction.

At the time, the idea was dismissed as too aggressive, but its implementation in a watch dedicated to Halloween seemed appropriate.

Dracula Special Halloween by Konstantin Chaykin

For the Dracula watch, Chaykin complicated the Joker-indication mechanism by adding a unique Dracula time display in the form of Dracula’s fangs – in the standard version, this feature is a day-night display.

Dracula’s fangs appear just before midnight, reach their full length around 1:00 a.m., retract around 3:40 a.m., and disappear completely at 5:30 am.

The design of this Joker-indication module has become more complex with 16 new parts, so the caliber has been given the new designation K.18-7.For the first time, the Wristmon got a sapphire crystal caseback, through which you can see the mysterious full-disk automatic rotor in a special Halloween design with an ominous outline of bat wings.

Featuring a 42 mm case made of black PVD-coated steel, the watch was offered in a limited edition of 13 pieces, with the option of a custom Dracula collectible strap with a white bow tie and blood-red lapels.

11. Angry Joker 2018

The Angry Joker is unique piece with a 42 mm bronze case made by Chaykin in late 2018. The movement is based on an antique Swiss caliber from about a hundred years ago, with nickel silver mainplate and bridges and screwed chatons.

Angry Joker by Konstantin Chaykin

The titanium caseback has a sapphire window, and instead of a round ‘eye’ to indicate the hour, a ‘squinting eye’ was installed with a T-shaped pointer part instead of a disk – hence the name Angry Joker.

This watch is currently offered for sale by the Ineichen auction house. It’s an extremely rare case that a unique Joker shows up at an auction. The auction will take place on May 11, 2023 in Zurich.

12. Unique Pig 2019

The idea to design a watch with a dial in the shape of an animal from the Chinese zodiac cycle came to Konstantin Chaykin in the summer of 2018.

Unique Pig by Konstantin Chaykin

The Unique Pig 2019, dedicated to the upcoming Chinese New Year – the Year of the Earthen Pig, was unveiled by Chaykin on the eve of this event, in early February 2019.

14. Joker Selfie Only Watch 2019

This unique watch was designed by Konstantin Chaykin for the charity auction Only Watch 2019.

The hand-wound caliber K.21-0, the movement of the Joker Selfie, is a heavily reworked Soviet precision caliber 2809 from the Chistopol watch factory, equipped with a specially developed Joker-indication module with a gravity-switchable secret display of the day of the week with designations in the form of emoji jokers.

Joker Selfie for Only Watch 2019 by Konstantin Chaykin

The watch belongs to the genre of self-portrait invented by Chaykin, and for the first time is equipped with a miniature watchmaker’s magnifying glass, which is placed on the watch glass above the eye of the character on the left side of the dial.

The 42 mm watch case is made of genuine stainless ‘Bulat’ steel, a skin-friendly, strong, and extremely wear-resistant alloy used exclusively in the manufacture of Konstantin Chaykin watches.

At the auction on November 9, 2019, the watch was sold for 70,000 francs, which significantly exceeded the estimated value of the lot.

15. Green Halloween 2019 (Make Halloween Green Again)

In 2019, Konstantin Chaykin decided to dedicate a new limited series of 88 pieces to Halloween. The design of this model is based on the unique Pumpkin Head watch from 2017, but this time the dial was made in shades of green.

Green Halloween Joker by Konstantin Chaykin

The relief guilloche pattern used for the dial decoration was complicated: instead of a background with a uniform radial relief painted in a matte orange, a relief with a doubling of the groove was used. Chaykin had already used this technique for the Joker Titanium watch.

The translucent glossy lacquer coating of the dial gave an impressive image of the play of light with iridescent yellow-green tones from light lime to dark grassy. The 42 mm case is made of bronze, and the solid steel caseback features a witch on a broomstick and bats against the backdrop of the moon on a relief medallion.

Clown 2 Audacity by by Konstantin Chaykin

The watch was released in memory of the Audacity Prize won by Chaykin and his Clown watch at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève GPGH-2018. For this 42 mm steel model, Chaykin developed a new dial design with a clown face, and a relief image of a circus tent is engraved on the solid caseback.

17. Mouse King 2020

Ahead of the Chinese New Year 2020 – the Year of the Metal Mouse according to the traditional Chinese calendar – Konstantin Chaykin has decided to release the Mouse King watch.

A new automatic caliber K.07-1 was developed for the model with a 42 mm titanium case, based on the high-quality Swiss Vaucher caliber 3002 and equipped with a modified Joker-indication module. The watch embodies Chaykin’s idea of weaving together myths and fairy tales of Chinese and European cultures.

Mouse King by Konstantin Chaykin

The Mouse King also implements the Chaykin’s long-standing idea to build a watch with a crown-shaped crown at 12 o’clock, as the horological term ‘crown’ is written the same as “royal crown” in most European languages.

Chaykin’s Mouse King is the world’s first wristwatch with a crown named and shaped after the character’s golden crown. The watch was released in a limited edition of 7 pieces.

18. Night Dracula Special Edition

In April 2020, Konstantin Chaykin launched a new version of the Dracula watch – a Night Dracula in a limited edition of 13 pieces. The design of this model is an all-black (all-black) version with a black dial, a cherry red nose, and a case with two blackened steel crowns.

Night Dracula Special Edition Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin

The unusual thing about this design is that the details on the edge of the smiling mouth (that’s the moon phase indicator) and the pupils of the character eyes (hour and minute indicators) are made of a monolithic luminophore developed and manufactured by Konstantin Chaykin. This limited edition was commissioned by The Limited Edition (UK).

20. Santa Special Edition 2021

At the end of 2020, on the eve of Christmas and New Year, Konstantin Chaykin designed his own version of the Christmas and New Year watch, the Santa Special Edition. When designing the dial, modeled on the face of Santa Claus, Chaykin decided to focus on the character’s glasses – he was the first watchmaker to design glasses for the dial of a wristwatch and provide it with sapphire lenses (later the glasses appeared on the dials of the Minions and Minions Titanium watches).

Santa Special Edition Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin

For the Santa Special Edition, Chaykin changed the design of the Joker-indication module. As a result, the caliber received a new designation K.07-2. The solid steel caseback of the 42 mm steel case is decorated with an intricate relief engraved Christmas image of Santa Claus carrying gifts on a sleigh pulled by reindeer. Santa 2021 was a limited edition of only 3 pieces.

21. Minotaur Special Chinese New Year 2021

The Minotaur Special Chinese New Year 2021, launched in a limited edition of 8 bronze pieces and is the third chapter of Konstantin Chaykin’s collection dedicated to the symbolic beings of the 12-year Chinese zodiac, and the continuation of the Chaykin’s reflections on the interlocking myths of Chinese and European cultures.

In this case, it’s about the Chinese myth of the bull, one of the 12 signs of the zodiac, and the ancient Greek legend of the Minotaur, the bull man.

Minotaur Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin

For this Wristmon, Chaykin developed a new caliber K.08-1, based on the high-end Vaucher VMF 3002 automatic movement, which for the first time replaces the moon phase display (Wristmon’s lunar smile) in the Joker-indication module with a unique double-disk day of the week display.

The day of the week is indicated by two letters located in the windows, which are designed as the nostrils of the character. As far as I know, none of the watchmakers before Chaykin has made a large two-disk mechanism for the day of the week display.

22. NFT-Joker

The occasion for the creation of this artwork by Konstantin Chaykin was the news about the rapid beginning of the fusion of digital art and blockchain technology. Considering watchmaking as art, Konstantin decided to work as a watchmaker in visual arts.

NFT-Joker is the first purely digital art project created by a watchmaker. The charismatic Joker watch and time itself perceived through it is a long discrete sequence of 42,480 images.
This sequence consisted of images of a Joker watch, captured every minute, because every minute, according to Chaykin, is marked by a unique emotion of the Joker dial face. The sum of emotions was accumulated in 12-hour periods of all days during two lunar months, when both moons on the index run along the Wristmon’s characteristic lunar smile.

On May 22, 2021, the NFT Joker, the first multidimensional virtual art object in the history of watchmaking, was sold at the Ineichen auction for the equivalent of 42,000 Swiss francs (excluding auction premium). This is equivalent to approximately one franc for each of the Joker watch’s 42,480 unique digital images, which span an unprecedented sequence of time frames over a period of two lunar months.

23. Harlequin Ventuno 2021

In June 2021, Chaykin introduced Harlequin, a new character in his Wristmons collection. Harlequin of the 21st year of the century – Harlequin Ventuno (in Italian ‘ventuno’ means ‘twenty-one’).

Harlequin Ventuno Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin

The watch, produced in a limited edition of 18 pieces, is equipped with the Chaykin automatic caliber K.07-0. For this new Wristmon Chaykin designed a dial with the characteristic lunar smile and a mask in the form of a bat with guilloche.

On the solid steel caseback, the Harlequin’s mask and his jester’s cap are engraved with diamonds on a relief background.

24. Joker Black Bet 2021

In September 2021, Chaykin invited connoisseurs of fine watchmaking to bet on black. The Joker Black Bet is made of stainless steel with black PVD coating.

Joker Black Bet Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin

On the caseback, which is also made of blackened steel, the relief image of a roulette wheel is engraved with numbers of black sectors.

Back of the Joker Black Bet Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin

Each of the 18 limited edition pieces received a unique number from a sequence of black numbers on the roulette wheel. This number is indicated on the watch by a steel ball pressed into the caseback in the corresponding sector.

25. Grimaldi the Clown 2021

The chain of clown characters in a Wristmons collection was continued by Konstantin Chaykin in October 2021 with the release of a new model dedicated to Joseph Grimaldi, the great clown and founder of the clowning genre. The classic image of a clown invented by Grimaldi was depicted by Konstantin Chaykin on the dial of his new Wristmon.

Grimaldi The Clown Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin

Grimaldi’s catchphrase “Here we are again!”, made with transparent lacquer, marked the disc of the moon phase display. The 42 mm steel watch has a caseback with a sapphire window through which the mysterious full-disk rotor of the caliber K.07-0 with automatic winding, created especially for this watch can be seen.

Grimaldi The Clown Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin on the wrist

The rotor is decorated with decorative appliques with the names of the watch, the manufacture, and a circus tent in the center, which is designed in the shape of a sun circle with the emblem of the manufacture. The watch was produced in a limited edition of 38 pieces.

26. Martian Tourbillon Only Watch 2021 Piece Unique

The Martinan Tourbillon is unique watch conceived by Chaykin for the charity auction Only Watch 2021 as a fusion of two concepts, two worlds of Konstantin Chaykin’s watch universe – the Wristmons collection and the Martian Time program. The Martian Tourbillon is Chaykin’s first tourbillon wristwatch, and also the world’s first tourbillon that indicates the rotation of Mars: The tourbillon cage makes one revolution in one Martian minute (about 61.65 Earth seconds).

Martian Tourbillon Wristmon for Only Watch 2021 by Konstantin Chaykin

The Joker-indication module was significantly revised for this watch. Two disks with hour and minute displays follow the course of Martian time, and the characteristic smile is a retrograde display of the Martian date combined with the display of the day of the week of the Martian calendar (also a world first).

Back of the Martian Tourbillon Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin

The watch implements the Martian calendar system devised by American engineer Thomas Gangale. All Martian designations for time units, dates and days of the week come from Chaykin’s imagination.

On November 6, 2021, the Martian Tourbillon watch was sold for 290,000 Swiss francs – a record for a watch made by a Russian watchmaker.

The Martian Tourbillon is a watch that has no practical value, at least until humanity begins to conquer Mars. I hope that this will happen in the foreseeable future. But for me, this watch is very important as a positive, inspiring and encouraging vision of the future. I hope to see the day that this Chaykin watch has a practical use.

27. Minions

Minions launched in November 2021 in a limited edition of 38 pieces, is the first Wristmon designed by Konstantin Chaykin in collaboration with the owner of the rights to the Minions. The design meticulously recreated the image of Bob Minion, right down to the eyes in different colors: Bob’s left eye is brown, the right is green.

The Bob Minion’s eyes look surprisingly realistic, thanks to the sapphire crystals cleverly inserted into the glasses and anti-reflective on both sides (glasses as a design element of the dial were first used by Chaykin in the Santa watch).

Minions Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin

The character’s eyes and lunar smile are enlivened by the new K.07-3 automatic caliber (Eta 2892-A2 base movement), which features a Joker-indication module adapted to the Minion’s distinctive facial features.

Back of the Minions Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin

The watch has a 40 mm steel case and a sapphire crystal caseback featuring a personalized rotor embossed with Bob and the Minions logo, and it comes on a custom denim strap with contrasting yellow stitching.

28. Smilodon Special Chinese New Year 2022

Smilodon is the fourth chapter of the cycle in which Konstantin Chaykin explores the contact of Chinese mythology with phenomena from other cultures. The watch with a 42-mm bronze case, released in a limited edition of 8 pieces, is dedicated to the Chinese New Year 2022 – the Year of the Tiger. In search of associations, Chaykin turned to prehistoric times, saber-toothed tigers, which disappeared about 10 thousand years ago.

Smilodon Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin

Their discoverer, Danish paleontologist Peter Vilhelm Lunn, gave them the name “Smilodon”, which Konstantin Chaykin found very similar to the working title “Smile” for a watch project with an anthropomorphic dial. This project gave birth to the Joker watch in 2017.

For the Smilodon watch, Chaykin developed a new caliber K.08-2 based on the automatic Vaucher VMF 3002 and with a new Joker-indication module. Chaykin invented a new way of displaying the days of the week by presenting them as stylized images of petroglyphs of six extinct animals, while the seventh is a human.

The display is in the mouth of the saber-toothed tiger Smilodon, which opens in the morning to reveal a new petroglyph and closes again in the evening as if devouring another creature.

29. Joker XXX

This one-off was created as part of the Joker XXX project and sold for CHF 300,000 at Ineichen on April 30, 2022. The lot included a Porsche 911 G Carrera in a special ‘Joker’ version, an NFT crypto painting depicting a Joker car in Gotham City, and Konstantin Chaykin’s Joker XXX watch. The 42mm black PVD stainless steel watch has a caseback with a medallion mimicing an NFT crypto painting.

Joker XXX Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin

What sets the Joker XXX apart from all other Wristmons is its unique dial design with all-black eyes, which are the time indicators. Two black matte disks with red line markings resemble the gauges on the dashboard of the Porsche 911 G Carrera.

The black-eyed Joker XXX is a unique design of its kind in the Wristmons collection.

30. Joker Five

Konstantin Chaykin celebrated the fifth anniversary of the Joker watch and Wristmons collection with the release of this limited edition. Joker Five is a reinterpretation of the Wristmons with an openworked dial, a design originally developed for the Martian Tourbillon Only Watch 2021 Piece Unique. Instead of Mars time, the Joker Five displays Earth time, and its smile is a retrograde indicator of the day of the Earth week.

Joker Five Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin

The Joker-indication modules from Chaykin’s Wristmons are made according to the rules of haute horlogerie. All the previous module versions are very beautiful, but unfortunately they’re hidden behind the dials. In this sense, the Joker Five is a rare exception and offers the possibility to observe the functioning of the Joker-indication module from the dial side.

The new K.09-0 automatic caliber is based on the Vaucher VMF 3002 and is equipped with a Joker-indication module developed specifically for this watch. This new character in the Wristmons collection was created for the first time under license from DC Comics, the owner of the rights to the Joker brand name. Joker Five was produced in a limited edition of 38 pieces.

For more information, please visit https://chaykin.ru/en/watches/wristmons/Joker-five/

31. Harley Quinn

The second model of the anniversary release was developed by Konstantin Chaykin for the fifth anniversary of the wristmon collection. Unlike all previous Wristmons, which were masculine, Harley Quinn is a women’s model released in a limited edition of 28 pieces.

Harley Quinn Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin

Like the Joker Five, Harley Quinn is the horological expression of the extravagant image of Harley Quinn, Joker’s girlfriend and DC Comics character, and is also licensed. The self-winding K.07-4 caliber is based on a modified Eta 2892-A2, the second Wristmon with this base caliber after Minions.

The 40 mm watch case, is 2 mm smaller than the standard Wristmon case, is made of stainless steel. This release was timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of this character, invented in 1992 by artists Timm Bruce (Bruce Walter Timm) and comic book author Paul Dini (Paul McClaran Dini) for the animated series “Batman”.

The dial received a black overlay heart – in the original it is a tattoo. This detail first appeared on the supervillain in the 2016 film Suicide Squad.

32. Calavera

As is so often the case when Konstantin Chaykin invents a new Wristmon, he doesn’t attempt to re-animate an existing model from the collection, but to create a new character with its own artistic, semantic, and sometimes even philosophical content.

The catalyst for Calavera, a new character in the Wristmons collection, was Chaykin’s participation in SIAR, the leading industry event for the Latin American market. It’s no coincidence that Chaykin dedicated the Calavera watch to Mexico’s El Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead).

Calavera Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin

However, it’s not just a Wristmon imitation of calaveras, small cane sugar figures shaped like skulls and painted with colorful ornaments. This watch is more of a philosophical statement by Konstantin. And this is what he says himself: “Calavera is a story of popular imagination and the ability to create captivating, emotionally charged images embodied in a fragile, ephemeral material – cane sugar – over the last three hundred years.

I can hardly imagine the myriad variations of calaveras gone forever. It’s like painting pictures in the sand of the sea. They last only a few moments, and then a wave comes and erases them – forever. When I think about it, I find it hard to remain indifferent. Aren’t my watches the same fleeting creations?”

Back of the Minions Wristmon by Konstantin Chaykin

Calavera is a limited edition of 20 pieces. It’s a classic Wristmon with a 42 mm steel case and a self-winding K.07-0 caliber based on the ETA 2824-2. The main difference from the classics of the collection – apart from its unique dial with Calavera representation – is the caseback with a sapphire window and an open caliber. The entire movement can be seen, with its mysterious full-disk automatic rotor blackened and decorated with fine circular brushing.

33. Minions Titanium

This Minions Titanium repeats the scenario of the first Joker, when the original steel model was followed by a new edition in titanium. History repeated itself in that the first steel Minions were in high demand and the limited edition of 38 sold out almost immediately.

The main changes are a titanium case, a modified dial finishing technique and a ruthenium-coated automatic rotor. The Minions Titanium, produced in a limited edition of 99 pieces, was unveiled at the AHCI exhibition in Geneva at the L’iceBergues Exhibition Center in late March 2023.

At this time of publication, this is the last of Chaykin’s Wristmons. I’d like to think that Konstantin will not stop inventing new characters, because they bring a lot of fun to the landscape of modern watchmaking. After all, a bit of self-deprecation, sense of humor and joy are never superfluous.

To the 33 Wristmons releases that bear the signature of Konstantin Chaykin, there are two (below) made by Behrens and Louis Erard under license.

34. Behrens x Konstantin Chaykin Limited Editions

The Hong Kong-based brand, named after Peter Behrens, a German architect and one of the pioneers of industrial design, offers its customers three Behrens x Konstantin Chaykin models – Titanium, Black Titanium and Crystallized Titanium, each produced in a limited edition of 200 pieces.

They differ from each other by the material and finish of the case, as well as the color scheme of the dial. It’s not a classic Wristmons, which wasn’t to be expected, as Chaykin wants to keep the classic design types for his own collection. Behrens x Konstantin Chaykin again uses disk displays for hours and minutes as the character’s eyes, while the character’s smile is the intricate seconds hand that moves on an arc-shaped path.

Why didn’t Behrens name the character when it was created? It’s not clear, and this question torments me.

Also, the relief medallion on the caseback features a fantastic creature (the cricket from Pinocchio?) – that might be a good clue if they want to make up for that omission.

Interestingly, Behrens kept the classic 42 mm size and used the Sellita SW200, a clone of the Eta 2824, the base caliber of most Chaykin’s Wristmons.

35. Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin

In contrast to Behrens, Louis Erard invents names with incredible generosity in the description of his collaboration with Chaykin: Cyclops, One-Eyed Monster, Time Eater…

There is also a project name that Konstantin Chaykin stuck to – it appears in his narrative about the history of this design: “Every Halloween I created a new type of monster, i.e., wristwatches with a Halloween theme, such as the Pumpkin Head watch and the Dracula watch, for example. Looking for ideas for this story, I turned to the one-eyed Likho character from fairy tales.”

Louis Erard kept the name Le Régulateur, the base name for most of his collaborations. Chaykin’s one-eyed monster is a perfect match for Louis Erard’s signature complication, the regulator dial, and so the self-winding Sellita SW266-1 is the base movement of this watch. Two versions were released: 39 mm with a purple rim circle and 42 mm with a green rim circle, both in a limited edition of 178 pieces.

There is also a special box set with two versions, Le Diptyque Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin, in a limited edition of 28 pieces. Louis Erard promises a sequel, “And if this was only the beginning…”

Nevermind the watchmaking genius of Konstantin Chaykin. His greatest stroke of genius is the Wristmon lines, where the variations are practically endless, yet never boring. The Minion collection itself could become its own subcollection of limited editions – there are a lot of featured Minions in the movies and games.

I’m happy for Chaykin that this collection has been so successful and you should treat this article as a living document. In the distant future when Chaykin retires, the Wristmons will remain a serious and fun collectible. Somebody will make good money writing the definitive collecting guide. Possibly Chaykin himself.

There are a few versions missing from that guide.
From the top of my head there is the Tigre De Cristal joker made for the Russian Casino chain @ 188 pieces, and the black joker (black and green) @ 21 pieces
