Since its launch in 2005, Only Watch has been one of the most – if not the most – significant auctions in the watch world. A biennial charity auction founded by Luc Pettavino, Only Watch is organized by the Monegasque Association Against Muscular Dystrophy (MAAMD) under the patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco.
Brands donate unique timepieces to be auctioned; all of the proceeds are used to help finance research against Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a debilitating and life-threatening genetic disorder that affects around one in 3,500 boys, including Pettavino’s son, who died of the disease in November 2016.
The Only Watch auction takes place on November 11, 2017 in Geneva. Let us know your favorite watches (or watches) in the comments below.

Patek Philippe Reference 5208T-010
This rare titanium timepiece is expected to be the top lot – which is probably not a stretch since Patek Philippe usually sells watches encased in classic precious metals (gold and platinum); titanium-cased models are very rare. A titanium Patek Philippe model reached a stratospheric price at the 2015 auction (see You Are There: Attending The Only Watch Auction 2015 With Patek Philippe).
This triple complication timepiece contains a chronograph, instantaneous perpetual calendar, and minute repeater. With a high estimate of more than one million Swiss francs, this watch represents the auction’s top estimate and it comes with a visit of the workshops plus a private lunch with Patek Philippe president Thierry Stern.

Blancpain Tribute to Fifty Fathoms MIL-Spec
Early in 2017, Blancpain commemorated the formative years of the Fifty Fathoms by releasing a tribute to a model named the MIL-SPEC 1 that was released in 1957-58 and designed for military applications. Its claim to fame is a water-resistance indicator at 6 o’clock, which could well be described as a leak indicator: should water get into the case, the indicator changes color.
For Only Watch 2017, Blancpain donates a unique version of the Tribute to Fifty Fathoms MIL-Spec in addition to offering the winning bidder a once-in-a-lifetime experience: Gianluca Genoni, holder of 18 world apnea records, will serve as an instructor for the new owner and four friends.
