The Louis Vuitton Tambour Convergence is Well-Named: Is Louis Vuitton Converging with Urwerk?

The new The Louis Vuitton Tambour Convergence has received a lot of press recently, and well deservedly so: it’s a well-size (37 mm), quirky (in a good way), take on modern dress watch.

But it’s driven me crazy because there is a elephant in the room when it comes to me appreciating the  Tambour Convergence: the Urwerk UR-101/UR-102, the very first model Urwerk launched the brand with back in 1997.

Urwerk even released an excellent updated version in 2023, the UR-102 Reloaded (pictured above).

Louis Vuitton calls the watch Convergence but Convergence with what? The Urwerk UR-101?

I’ve not read in any review that the Tambour Convergence bears a striking resemblance to the Urwerk UR-101. Is it just me?

It does look similar but LV doesn’t care. They have their well branded name so they think “who cares”. Some arrogance there. Always someone trying to ride on someone else’s successful “coat tails”!
