After Fabergé merged with Gemfields in 2013, this historical brand became a specialist in colored stones, so I was pleased to have the opportunity to wear one of its lovely high-jewelry necklaces featuring emeralds to the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève 2017, where I was in the jury. I also had the chance to wear the enigmatic and beautiful Lady Compliquée Peacock Black.
Many watch aficionados are likely to be familiar with Chrono24, the world’s leading watch platform for buying and selling new, vintage, and pre-owned watches. Well, it just held its first GTG in Karlsruhe, where the company is based. Elizabeth Doerr attended and now gives us a first-hand report.
It is now a real tradition for watchmakers to observe Chinese New Year by creating beautiful, decorative timepieces adorned with some symbolic depiction of the appropriate sign of the Chinese zodiac, often using rare, artistic techniques to pay tribute to the eastern calendar. La Montre Hermès moved from Baselworld to Geneva for the 2018 SIHH and picked the perfect theme for its debut there: “Let’s Play.” The brand’s fun-filled booth and watches were a welcome contrast to the often overly serious business side of the fair. Check them out right here!
The unabashed star of Greubel Forsey’s 2018 SIHH presentations was the GMT Earth, which enables a simultaneous view of three separate time zones and features an enchanting three-dimensional titanium globe showing universal time (both summer and winter) on the back.
