Richard Mille, for all of its incredibly creative 15 years, is still quite a young brand. So it’s really no surprise that not too many of the brand’s watches appear at auction.
However, you might be surprised how high a price the few that do come up for auction actually hammer for.
Here is an overview of the top 10 performers at auctions in 2015.
1. Richard Mille RM 27-02 for Only Watch
Date: November 7, 2015
Auction house: Phillips for Only Watch
Sold for: CHF 650,000
Hammering for a whopping 650,000 Swiss francs, the RM 27-02 prototype worn by Rafael Nadal during the 2015 French Open at Roland Garros not only became the highest-earning wristwatch for Richard Mille at auction in 2015, it also came in second place at the 2015 Only Watch auction only following the record-breaking Patek Philippe Reference 5016A-010.
This charity event has become sort of the rock star among auctions. While the watches offered in support of research of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy are not secondary market offerings, they are unique one-off pieces donated by the manufacturers.
