Rich and famous people wear nice watches! That goes without saying.
But, interestingly, a significant number of the actors in the Marvel Universe seem to be something like serious aficionados when it comes to the ticking marvels on their wrists.
Or brand ambassadors.
Or both.
Here are a number of watches spotted on the superwrists of Marvel’s superheroes at the world premiere of Avengers: Infinity War on April 23, 2018, at the Los Angeles Dolby Theater – a film that has grossed more than $1.6 billion worldwide, making it already the highest grossing superhero film of all time just two weeks after opening.

The world premier held in Los Angeles was sponsored by Citizen, who has a formal collaboration with the Walt Disney Company as the official timepiece of the Walt Disney World resort in Florida, the Disneyland resort in California, and Marvel new media’s creative space, including Comic Con in San Diego. The red-carpet sponsorship of the Avengers: Infinity War film premiere was the first collaboration event for Citizen since announcing the contract in March 2018.
Iron Man and his unbeatable watches
Robert Downey, Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man) wore the Greubel Forsey GMT to the Los Angeles world premiere. No, this watch featuring a three-dimensional globe inside the case wasn’t made of iron, but rather red gold (learn more about the latest version of this watch in Greubel Forsey GMT Earth: More Than A Safe Bet, Your Call).

Downey is an obvious watch junkie and has been spotted wearing all kinds of amazing timepieces both on and off screen (check out this video by GQ for an entertaining look inside his personal watch box), and most recently a UR-110 by Urwerk that he sported in character as Iron Man in Spider-Man: Homecoming. In Avengers: Infinity War, his character Tony Stark wore Devon’s futuristic Tread 1, though you had to be quick to see it in the scene with his onscreen love interest Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) toward the beginning of the movie.
Though Gwyneth Paltrow wore a dress with long, billowing sleeves to the premiere, which made it hard to see the watch she was undoubtedly wearing, I would assume it was something by Frédérique Constant as the actress has been the “global charity ambassador” and advertising face of this brand since March 2016.
Strange and stranger
Benedict Cumberbatch’s Dr. Strange has been a truly enriching character for the Marvel Universe, beginning with 2016’s Doctor Strange. It was here that the good doctor illustrated his love of the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand by pulling a Master Ultra Thin Perpetual from his watch box on screen (see Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’ Keeps Time With A Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual).
In January 2018, Cumberbatch was officially introduced to the public as a Jaeger-LeCoultre ambassador and has since been seen wearing the new Polaris Memovox on the publicity tour for Avengers: Infinity War (see Benedict Cumberbatch Wears Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox To ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Premiere). He also wore this watch to the worldwide premiere in Los Angeles.

Bradley Cooper, who voiced Guardian of the Galaxy raccoon hero Rocket in the film, has been an official IWC brand ambassador since January 2018. He wore a Big Pilot’s Watch Le Petit Prince to the premiere.

Chris Hemsworth (Thor) has been a TAG Heuer ambassador since 2015 (see Chris Hemsworth Joins TAG Heuer As Latest Ambassador, Wears Carrera Heuer 01) and as such has most lately been spotted wearing the attractive Monaco Calibre 11. However, he seems to have worn a pocket watch to the big Los Angeles premiere. How chic!
Hulking spiders
Tom Holland, the young Spiderman actor, seems to be seriously into watches as evidenced by his choice of attire at the 2018 Oscars, where he was a presenter. At the Avengers: Infinity War premiere he wore a Piaget Altiplano 900P, a unique and relatively mature choice for a 21-year-old man in my opinion.
Mark Ruffalo (Hulk/Bruce Banner) had a Frédérique Constant Hybrid Manufacture on his wrist. This is a watch that Ruffalo unveiled together with the Swiss brand in New York in February 2018.

And, finally, Chris Pratt, who plays the quipping Starlord in the film, was spotted wearing a Santos de Cartier in yellow gold – also something of an unusual choice in my opinion.
