American actor Mark Wahlberg starred in Daddy’s Home 2, but is perhaps most well known for his portrayal of fictional porn star Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights.
Wahlberg also owns quite a collection of watches, particularly favoring pieces in precious metals, and has a penchant for watches set with rare stones. He owns many different Rolexes (see one here) and was spotted by our friends at Time+Tide with an iced-out Patek Philippe Nautilus.
He recently uploaded a video to his Instagram account. In it, Wahlberg was wearing a watch released at Baselworld 2018 that has only just begun delivery to retailers.
Which one? The Rolex GMT-Master II “Root Beer” reference 126715CHNR.
While the stainless steel GMT-Master II with Pepsi bezel on Jubilee bracelet got a lot of attention at Baselworld 2018 – not all of which was entirely positive as the Quill & Pad team discussed in our traditional post-Baselworld round table – the other new soda-pop color scheme release generally got the thumbs up from critics and fans, including our team.
This version of the Rolex classic resembles the colorways of the old GMT-Masters, which were nicknamed “Root Beer” because of their brown-and-yellow bezel inserts.
Wahlberg was wearing the new 18-karat pink gold – “Everose” in Rolex parlance – version with matching bracelet. Its distinctive half-brown-and-black Cerachrom bezel is visible in his picture.
