Our friends at The Watches TV had a chance to see the Hermès watches for 2020 – and they (and we) were in luck to also hear from La Montre Hermès CEO Laurent Dordet.
Watches TV host Marc André Deschoux goes through the new Hermès pieces one by one, beginning with the 2020 L’Heure de la Lune, the first version of which launched in 2019. “A super-hot watch,” Deschoux describes it, and Dordet confirms that it was also a commercial success. The new variations for 2020 are amazing, including three new meteorite versions that go from rare to rarer.
The two new unique-piece Arceau Lift Tourbillon Minute Repeater watches feature movements boasting both a minute repeater and a flying tourbillon. You can hear the repeater at work on the video as it melodically chimes the time. One of the coolest elements of this watch for me is the dial cutaway shaped like a horse head. No one but Hermès would think of that!
The video also highlights the latest variation of the popular Slim d’Hermès GMT, which is currently in the running for the 2020 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève Men’s Complication category.
And, finally, we catch a live glimpse of the metiers d’art specialty pocket watch called Arceau Pocket Aaaargh featuring a marquetry and leather mosaic cover depicting a tyrannosaurus rex and a movement containing a minute repeater and a flying tourbillon (the same powering the two unique-piece Arceau Lift Tourbillon Minute Repeaters). The Arceau Pocket Aaaargh is a one-of-a-kind creation.
“We try to be different,” says Dordet. “This is our target.”
