Nicknamed the Jahrhunderttourbillon (“tourbillon of the century”) and introduced in 1900, it was until recently part of Sotheby’s bombastic Masterworks of Time auction. However, Sotheby’s has removed the Jahrhunderttourbillon from the upcoming November auction and here Elizabeth Doerr reveals why.
