Collectors Speak: Picks And Pans Of SIHH Week 2015

For the past five years, I’ve had the delightful experience of traveling to Switzerland with several friends to experience SIHH week, before finishing up with a Friday night dinner at which we review our impressions of the week by answering what watch we thought was best of show at SIHH; what was the worst watch; what current-production watch that we saw at any event during the week would we buy if money were no object; and what current-production watch did we see that we would buy with our own money?

Round Table: Reflections On SIHH 2015

As the SIHH celebrated its 25th anniversary, other milestones were also taking place. IWC celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Portugieser, Vacheron Constantin celebrates its 260th anniversary, and A. Lange & Söhne respects the 200th anniversary of founder Ferdinand Adolph Lange with models including the amazing Zeitwerk Minute Repeater.

SIHH 2015 Photo Essay: Richard Mille

The Richard Mille booth was more than ever a visual treat at SIHH 2015.

Behind the uniform exterior of the elegant booth facade, the visitor to Richard Mille was greeted not only by graphically and mechanically interesting wristwatches, but also exceptionally decorative stand personnel.

In fact, despite the cold snow and wind outside the fair hall, it was positively blooming with springtime flowers here: meet the brand’s new timepieces, including the incredible and unique RM 19-02 Tourbillon Fleur.

SIHH 2015 Photo Essay Monday: Ralph Lauren, Richard Mille, And Montblanc

Monday is usually a fairly easy day at the SIHH as the press conferences start later to allow visitors time to check in and get badges, etc. The Quill & Pad team kicked off SIHH 2015 with the Ralph Lauren, Richard Mille, and Montblanc press conferences.

The Richard Mille Boutique In Mayfair, London

It’s no surprise that it took Richard Mille many years to find a suitable location for a flagship London boutique: the brand was not looking for the right space in London, it was looking in the right space in Mayfair.

And in 90 Mount Street, Mayfair, London, Richard Mille found it.

Like many (though certainly not all) of the luxury brands in the area, the Richard Mille boutique is relatively unassuming from the outside. However, two large, frosted images of Richard Mille’s instantly-recognizable, tonneau-shaped case on the front windows provide a fairly substantial clue for those familiar with the brand.

Richard Mille And Diana Luna: Feminine Power And The RM 007

Follow us on a day spent with professional golfer and Richard Mille ambassador Diana Luna at the Ladies Lacoste Open de France. The picturesquely-situated Chantaco Golf Club near Biarritz, France, set the sunny scene for golf, watches, and champagne: the perfect environment for Richard Mille timepieces such as the RM 007, the brand-new RM 07-01 and the RM 016.

Natalie Portman’s Arachnid Tourbillon RM 19-01: A Richard Mille Love Story

I love Richard Mille. Not the man (well, perhaps in a way), but his creations. I have loved the tonneau-shaped models from the moment I set eyes on them. They are masculine, sexy, beautifully proportioned, full of new technology goodness and unique in such a way that when you have one on your wrist, people instantly know what you are wearing. So why has brand ambassador Natalie Portman chosen a spider for the spotlight and how does it figure into the tourbillon and movement mechanics?
