Continuing our series on tourbillons from Baselworld 2014, here are a few from Breguet, Chopard, Ulysse Nardin, Grönefeld and Kari Voutilainen.
The Breguet Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar boasts a beautiful, open-worked dial and hand-engraved, skeletonized movement. www.breguet.com/en/3755PR-1E-9V6
The Chopard L.U.C Triple Certification Tourbillon in 18-karat pink gold. This is the world’s first watch to qualify for the C.O.S.C. and Fleurier Quality Foundation certifications in addition to the Seal of Geneva. www.chopard.com/watches/l-u-c/tourbillon/l-u-c-triple-certification-tourbillon-16
The Grönefeld Parallax Tourbillon contains a flying tourbillon, synchronized tourbillon bridge and second hand, “push-to-wind-push-to-set” crown, a second hand that returns directly to 12 o’clock when the crown is pulled out for precise to-the-second setting, and stainless steel bridges. For more information, check out Joshua Munchow’s article Copernicus, Alignment Shift, And The Grönefeld Parallax Tourbillon: A Nerd Story. www.gronefeld.com/en/collection-parallax-c3-p7.php
Kari Voutilainen’s Tourbillon-6 is embellished by a stunning engine-turned guilloche silver dial on the outside and a direct-impulse escapement on the inside, whose 14 mm tourbillon cage is so large the hours and minutes have to be off-center. www.voutilainen.ch/site
The Ulysse Nardin Freak is one of my all-time favorite watches and this new model, the Blue Cruiser just makes this iconic model even more desirable. The Freak Blue Cruiser features a manual-winding-7 day carrousel Flying tourbillon with Dual Ulysse escapement. www.ulysse-nardin.com/en/swiss_watch_manufacturer/Collection/Exceptional/Freak_Cruiser
If you missed Part 1, please check out Give Me Five! Tourbillons From Baselworld 2014 Part 1 with tourbillons from Speake-Marin, Bulgari, Corum, Louis Moinet and L.Leroy.
And don’t miss Part 3 of this three part series next week, with tourbillons from Greubel Forsey, Blancpain, Vianney Halter, Girard-Perregaux and Hautlence (not a tourbillon, but a rotating escapement too cool to miss.)
