I know that it isn’t easy to make much out due to the reflections in this week’s photo, but this car does have one very unusual feature that you should be able to discern.
Did somebody say it’s raining?
The car is a prototype by Pininfarina (at the time Pinin Farina) for Lancia from 1957 called the “Florida II,” and it was the personal car of Mr. Pinin Farina for many years. This was one of the most influentially stylistic cars of its era.
But why on earth do the windscreen and steering wheel appear to be at opposite ends of the cabin? What might this car really have been designed for? Please leave your suggestions in the comments below.
Congratulations to last week’s winner, Ryan, for his proposal of a divine winding system! You can see that as well as the other excellent caption suggestions at Photo Caption Competition No. 23: Urwerk Phone Home.

You call this the future of driver-less cars?
Why does the chauffer always sit up front? Now it’s my turn.
Congratulations, Greg, you are last week’s winner.
My wife always said that she’s got eyes in the back of her head.
Now I believe it.
Designed for the most discerning of backseat drivers.
This is the first ”push me, pull me” car.
‘Don’t look back in a Kia, I heard you say’
Nice one, Julian.
Designed for racing and gives the driver a clear rear view when it rains – so he/she can see what’s approaching.
Could it be designed for racing in reverse?
I know these races were held in the Netherlands in the 80’s.
