Watch spotting on celebrity wrists can be a lot of fun if you’re watching a movie or TV show. Oh, who is Elizabeth kidding? It’s always a lot of fun. Here she shares five watches that caught her eye on the wrists of celebrities over the last couple of weeks.
Nick Gould spotted American actor Mark Wahlberg wearing an early-delivery Rolex GMT-Master II ‘Root Beer,’ once again putting his penchant for precious metal watches on display.
Walter Cronkite and Peter Jennings were two of the best known and most respected broadcast journalists on American television. While Cronkite was known to wear a gold Rolex Datejust and Omega chronographs, resident watch spotter Nick Gould surprisingly found evidence of Jennings sporting a Heuer Monaco.
In the 1968 film ‘The Thomas Crown Affair,’ Steve McQueen played the title character, a millionaire businessman and avid sportsman involved in a cat-and-mouse game with an insurance claims investigator played by Faye Dunaway. McQueen chose two of his personal watches to wear in the film: an elegant Cartier Tank Cintrée and a Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox. But when Nick Gould looked further into this, he discovered that contrary to popular opinion McQueen also surprisingly owned a Tank.
The first spinoff film from The Fast and the Furious franchise, ‘Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw,’ is set for worldwide release on August 2, 2019. It features two great characters from the previous films: Luke Hobbs played by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Deckard Shaw played by Jason Statham. Both Johnson and Statham are known to be watch lovers and frequently wear their own timepieces in movies. Here Nick Gould identifies what’s on their wrists in the film.

But he also noticed something peculiar about the way Williams is wearing her watch: she has been wearing it upside down while playing!
