Got only one right 🙂
We weren’t a whole lot better! We’ll publish a final round table near the beginning of the week to see how we did.
Dear Elizabeth, first of all, thank you for the many articles on GPHG 2020.
It would have been better to organise a small public viewing so that the spirit of the GPHG could have been conveyed to some extent. Does an event like this need a broad public audience alongside the actual industry at its core? That is very useful – but is it also necessary. I have to think about this for a while.
The list of winners – many surprises, much astonishment. Two superlatives (Berthoud and Greubel Forsey), a great joy (Petermann Bedat). A quick short event. Irritating.
„chumm mir wei nid grüble.“ … Thomas
Really happy with a few of these, but let’s face it: some of these really did NOT deserve an award at all (Bre…?!).
with the Divers, Petite Aiguille and Challenge, it feels like they were trying to insult the audience or something. i can’t fathom any rational reason for such “out of touch with reality” decisions. just… WTF
All fairly sane in the higher classes, but the Divers, Petite and Challenge? A Superocean beats the GS: laughable; the Heritage beats the Moomin or the Habring: ludicrous. But the very worst. A blue painted Tudor beats the Asaoka. That is a truly disgraceful decision. What GPHG are clearly saying is “come mainstream Swiss manufacturers, submit your most boggo stock models, you’ll be rewarded.” None bothered, so the spoils went to Breitling and… Tudor.
