Horological Revelation prize awarded to a (quartz-powered) homage watch? Seriously?
It is getting more and more difficult to take GPHG seriously.
Still, thanks for reporting – I very much enjoyed the Q&P prediction roundtables, like in previous years.
Thank you, we appreciate the comment!
Some of these awards are really awkward. Is the Luis Vuitton actually a diver?? As pretty as the Furlan Marri is, and there is nothing wrong the the tech itself, an award for a Seriko mechaquartz?? Iconic for the Royal Oak seems like the judges lack broader view… and the GP for thinnness, rthird time in a row when there are some prette cool other achievements in the selection… (well, I’m biased, because I just don’t like the Octo). One other observation: how very few really pretty (not to mention beautiful) watches were awarded…. perhaps another category for this is required…
First of all, congratulations to the winners and participants. Thanks also to Q&P for the reporting. Regarding the GPHG 2021 and the winners of the classes, I can only contribute my personal feedback. With this I do not give a valid judgement about the jury decisions, but as already said, my personal feedback. The fact that a work like Svemir by Miki Eleta did not receive a first prize in a category baffles me. For me it is completely incomprehensible and I personally feel that this is a disturbing development for high horology. I am very disappointed by this. To me it feels wrong. So that was the Jubilee GPHG, Thomas
