Car And Watch Spotting In Havana Starring A Cartier Santos Dumont And Beautiful Old-Timer Cars

July 8, 2017/13 Comments/in Highlights, Travel, Cartier/by George Cramer

I couldn’t think of a better watch to take on a trip Cuba than my own trusty Cartier Santos Dumont as I’d be flying 7,500 kilometers across the ocean. I was heading for Havana, a city that has been high on my travel list for years. Follow me there for some breathtaking vintage cars and scenery.

2,000-Kilometer Australian Road Trip With Two Friends: Ulysse Nardin Dual Time And De Bethune DB28

March 4, 2017/2 Comments/in Highlights, Travel, De Bethune, Ulysse Nardin/by Ian Skellern

I’m an expat Aussie who has now lived longer out of Australia than in, but in a few years my (Swiss) wife and I are planning on moving from Switzerland to Airlie Beach in North Queensland, Australia. In September 2016, I flew to the region for a week’s worth of face-to-face meetings to help lay the groundwork for our move.

It was a tight schedule, especially as I was sure to be suffering from jetlag, but it was doable. Especially with the Ulysse Nardin Dual Time on my wrist to help keep track of time there and at home.

#MYIceland: Adventures In Iceland With An Urwerk EMC Time Hunter

December 9, 2016/6 Comments/in Travel, Urwerk/by Simon Cudd

I recently embarked upon an adventure to Iceland, a land offering the most incredible, contrasting landscapes rich in volcanic matter and geothermal properties. One big motivational aspect for this holiday was my desire to photograph the country, which involved traveling more than 2,000 kilometers across it. I fell in love with Iceland instantly, so much so that I would move there tomorrow. And it’s even better with an Urwerk EMC Time Hunter on my wrist.

The How, What, When, Where And Why Of Seeing The Aurora Borealis, AKA Northern Lights

March 1, 2016/5 Comments/in Nature, Travel/by Ian Skellern

My wife and I serendipitously chanced upon “seeing” the aurora borealis while visiting Jackson Hole, Wyoming last year, and the excitement of that led to months of research. And that research led more recently to spending a few days in the Arctic Circle in the north of Sweden. Here is what I’ve learned about the northern lights so far, some of it firsthand.

Give Me Five: 5 Reasons To Visit Jackson Hole, Wyoming

September 26, 2015/10 Comments/in Photography, Travel/by Ian Skellern

Jackson Hole, Wyoming may not be on the bucket list of many except the keen fly fishermen among you, but here are five reasons why nature lovers and photographers might consider a visit: stunning scenery, animal life, Yellowstone National Park, Brakeman burgers, and the northern lights. September is my favorite time to visit Jackson Hole because the summer tourists have thinned, the trees are starting to dress for fall, and the animals move down from the mountains to eat in warmer climes.

How The Native American Ancestral Puebloans Kept Track Of Time

September 3, 2015/4 Comments/in History, Travel/by Elizabeth Doerr

If you’ve been lucky enough to travel to the “four corners” area of the southwestern United States (where U.S. states Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico “meet”), then you may have seen or even visited some of the cliff dwellings built by ancient native Americans that were erroneously called Anasazi for thousands of years and now go by the term Ancestral Puebloans. Read on to find out what we know about how this ancient tribe of people kept time and why they needed to do so.

Hôtel de Vendôme In The Heart Of Paris: Now Owned By Chopard

August 25, 2015/3 Comments/in Highlights, Travel, Chopard/by Elizabeth Doerr

I recently had the chance to spend two nights at the Hôtel de Vendôme, which is situated as the gateway to Paris’ swankiest shopping square: Place Vendôme. I stayed there as a guest of Chopard on the way to Le Mans, and this is when I learned a very interesting fact: the beautifully appointed hotel housed within an eighteenth-century mansion now belongs to the Swiss brand.

GaryG Goes To Paris To Pick Up Custom Boucheron Cufflinks Or How I Spent My Summer Vacation

July 7, 2015/2 Comments/in Highlights, Travel, A. Lange & Söhne, Philippe Dufour/by GaryG

Ah, Paris! City of Lights, Paname, Babylon on the Seine – no matter how one refers to it, there is nothing remotely like it. For the watch collector, it’s a great place to visit as well with boutiques aplenty, some owned and operated by the major brands; high-end mega-stores like Bucherer; and smaller independent retailers like Chronopassion and Dubail. Recently, I took a quick weekend trip to Paris and while there I took the opportunity to pack in as much fun as possible. Come along with me and join in!
