Book Review: ‘Patek Philippe In America: Marketing The World’s Foremost Watch’ By John Reardon

December 16, 2019/1 Comment/in Highlights, Book reviews, Patek Philippe/by Elizabeth Doerr

This richly illustrated coffee table book weighing close to two kilograms is both an invaluable reference tool and a fascinating read. The chapters do not scrimp in detailed information, expert opinion, and rich historical illustrations: even the book’s structure points are a pure joy to read or simply thumb through. Elizabeth would recommend it heartily for anyone with even a passing interest in the subject and here’s why.

November 17, 2019/0 Comments/in Patek Philippe/by Elizabeth Doerr

Silicon, long in use as a material in the electronics industry, has many advantages for mechanical watchmaking: it is 60 percent harder and 70 percent lighter than steel; non-magnetic; resistant to corrosion and shock; and generally needs no lubrication. These qualities motivated Patek Philippe to declare in 2005 that, “Silicon is the fabric of the future” and to found its Advanced Research department. Meet all five limited edition Advanced Research pieces released thus far right here.

Stainless Steel Patek Philippe Nautilus Market Madness: Thoughts On The Current Market Situation

October 15, 2019/12 Comments/in Collectors and Collecting, Patek Philippe/by Tim Mosso

Since January of 2016, secondary market prices of stainless steel Patek Philippe Nautilus models have surged in a fashion rarely seen. Patek Philippe Reference 5160: An Overlooked Mechanical Delicacy – Reprise

October 5, 2019/1 Comment/in Highlights, Patek Philippe/by Elizabeth Doerr

When most people think of Patek Philippe, they think of the evergreen models that roll off the lips of enthusiasts all over the world: Nautilus, Gondolo, Calatrava, and perhaps even that delectable worldtimer that appeared in 2013’s new Patek Philippe offerings as Reference 5130. Patek Philippe 5212A Calatrava Weekly Calendar: Patek’s First Production Steel Dress Watch In Decades

June 30, 2019/6 Comments/in Patek Philippe/by Joshua Munchow

Patek Philippe surprised Joshua Munchow at Baselworld 2019 with the launch of the Weekly Calendar, a new dress watch in stainless steel and the brand’s first steel-encased production model since the 1970s. The 5212A Calatrava Weekly Calendar is a mix of modern technology, classic style, and a couple of unique touches that help it stand out from Patek Philippe’s typical offerings, making it one of his favorite watches from the Genevan giant in quite a while.
